Video is the format people actually watch and the one most teams never get to. Explaining something well on camera means a script, a presenter, a studio and an edit, so most subjects never make it past a document nobody opens. The question was whether a subject — any subject — could become a finished explainer without a production behind it.

The challenge

Explaining is the hard part, not filming. A good explainer decides what to leave out, finds an order that builds, and pitches itself at someone who does not already know the answer. Generative tools were happy to produce a video; whether it actually taught anyone anything was another matter.

Consistency was the other trap. Ask for the same style twice and you get two cousins rather than two episodes: the palette shifts, the line weight changes, and the host quietly becomes a different person halfway through. Across a series, that reads as a channel losing its identity.

The outcome

A subject goes in and comes back as a finished video that explains it — written the way that channel writes, drawn by the same hand, hosted by the same character, whether it is the first episode or the fortieth.

The whole video is readable before anything is produced, so a wrong turn is caught while it is still a sentence. Any single moment can be redrawn, re-recorded or rewritten on its own, and earlier versions stay where they are, so a bad attempt never costs a good one.

The hard part was never filming it. It was explaining it.
